“Attack the Block” Sequel Interest Rising

“Attack the Block” writer/director Joe Cornish recently appeared on the Script Apart podcast (via Empire) and surprisingly revealed that a sequel may well be a possibility.

The 2011 original, about a teen gang in South London who have to protect their block from an alien invasion, either kicked off or helped the careers of its stars like “Star Wars” star John Boyega, future “Doctor Who” star Jodie Whittaker and former “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” regular Franz Drameh.

In the new interview, Cornish seems rather hopeful that it might come together: “We’ve got ideas. I met with John a couple of months ago to talk about it. We’ve always had ideas since after the first one, but obviously we’ve both been busy doing different things. In a weird way, kinda, the longer you leave it the more interesting it is. So that’s what I’ll say.”

The film received acclaim from critics but sadly underwhelmed at the box-office – ultimately finding more of an audience once it reached home video.
