Three big films are hitting the box-office this weekend and two are scoring solid reviews – the other is more of a mixed bag.
“Spiral: From the Book of Saw” has pulled in 53% (5.7/10) on Rotten Tomatoes, reviews indicating this semi-reboot adds some social commentary amidst the gory kills. Some like it, some don’t and few seem to be that happy with the ending.
Faring better is Taylor Sheridan’s “Those Who Wish Me Dead” which sits at 71% (6.3/10) on RT, the Angelina Jolie-led neo-western praised as satisfying on the thrills but not seen as one of Sheridan’s better works.
Faring the best is Zack Snyder’s “Army of the Dead” which stands at a solid 77% (6.1/10) on RT. While some complain that Snyder’s zombie heist film still indulges the filmmaker’s bad habits at times, a lot of the sentiment seems to be that it’s thoroughly entertaining.
All three films arrive on Friday in cinemas with ‘Wish’ also hitting HBO Max the same day. “Army of the Dead” then comes to Netflix from next Friday.
