Hollywood’s famed ArcLight Cinemas and Cinerama Dome are still about a year away from re-opening according to sources for THR.
The famed Los Angeles cinema complex on Sunset Boulevard was shuttered in April 2021 by the Decurion Corporation who owns the Pacific Theatres chain. Decurion owned the land underneath the actual Dome and planned to hold on to it.
In December that year a public notice of an application to sell alcoholic beverages was posted outside the building and led to studio distribution sources confirming the theater was preparing to resume showings.
Sadly nothing much seemed to be happening bar the odd security guard being spotted in the area. Though the application was approved this Summer, sources say nothing will happen until late 2023 and substantial renovations are rumored to be in the works.
AMC has benefitted the most from the shuttering of the Arclight with audiences shifting to their locations at The Grove, Century City and Universal Citywalk.
