Two of FX’s longest-running comedies are set to run… longer.
FX Entertainment President Eric Schrier, speaking as part of the network’s TCA presentation this week, says there is no indication that either “Archer” or “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” will come to an end.
In both cases, Schrier says both shows have continued to do well for them both creatively and ratings-wise with strong fan bases and so long as the creators want to continue, they’ll support it.
Talking about the next season of “Archer” with Deadline, he says:
“It’s not designed to be the last season. I think we feel really good about the scripts, they’re animating them now for the next season. We’re waiting to see how the creators feel about how long it should progress. We’re very enthusiastic about that show and its continued longevity.
When you have an animated half-hour like that, it can continue on, as you can see with The Simpsons, for a very long time. Archer still does great for us and people love it and the fans love it. So as long as they can keep doing it and maintain the quality, we’ll want to support it.”
‘Sunny’ recently finished its 15th season and has been renewed through its 18th. “Archer” is going into its 13th season to air later this year.
