Applegate Steps Back From Screen Acting?

Netflix

Former “Married with Children” and “Anchorman” star Christina Applegate has revealed that she’s ‘probably’ stepping back from acting in front of a camera.

The Emmy award-winner revealed in 2021 that she had received a multiple sclerosis diagnosis. That Summer, production on a third and final season of her Netflix series “Dead to Me” was temporarily paused in relation to Applegate’s health.

Filming resumed and the season was released on the streamer in November last year. Speaking with Deadline, Applegate hints she likely isn’t going to act in front of a lens anymore:

“Ping-pong is so much more fun when the other person is just as good as you are. I’m probably not going to work on-camera again, but I’m so glad that I went out with someone [Linda Cardinelli] who is by far the greatest actress I’ve ever worked with in my entire life, if not the greatest human I’ve ever known.”

She may be cutting back on screen acting, but that rule dosn’t cover voice acting with Applegate saying:

“I can’t even imagine going to set right now. This is a progressive disease. I don’t know if I’m going to get worse. I can do voiceover stuff because I have to support my family and keep my brain working.

That includes the in-development animated series based on the “Married with Children” franchise. She confirms she and her old co-stars Ed O’Neill as Al, Katey Sagal as Peggy and David Faustino as Bud are all attached. However she adds that it’s “not in our hands now.”
