One of the more unusual original series that will launch on the upcoming Apple TV+ streaming service is the new comedy “Dickinson” which stars Hailee Steinfeld as famed writer and poet Emily Dickinson.
Rather than a serious period drama though, ala “A Quiet Passion,” the new take is more like The CW’s spin on her story with a modern sensibility and a young adult audience focus. Now the official trailer for the half-hour series, along with a music video from its leading lady Hailee Steinfeld, are available below.
Created by Alena Smith (“The Newsroom”), the series audaciously explores the constraints of society, gender, and family from the perspective of the optimistic and rebellious young poet – before years of seclusion which defined her public image. Jane Krakowski, Toby Huss, Anna Baryshnikov, and Ella Hunt co-star.
“Dickinson” will launch with the Apple TV+ service on November 1st.
