Apple has handed out a straight-to-series order for an animated comedy series based on Louise Fitzhugh’s beloved children’s novel “Harriet the Spy” which is being produced by Jim Henson Co. and Rehab Entertainment.
“Booksmart” lead Beanie Feldstein, “Glee” queen Jane Lynch and former “Party of Five” star Lacey Chabert will lead the voice cast of the series to be written and executive produced by Will McRobb.
Set in 1960s New York, Feldstein will voice curious 11-year-old Harriet M. Welsch while Lynch will voice her no-nonsense nanny Ole Golly and Chabert is Marion Hawthorne, the ringleader of the smug popular girls at Harriet’s school.
Sidney Clifton, Lisa Henson and Hallee Stanford also produce while Titmouse Animation Studios will handle animation for the series. Michelle Trachtenberg led a previous live-action film adaptation in 1996.
