Tech giant Apple has won a bidding war to acquire a new film which has Idris Elba attached to star in. He will also produce alongside “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” helmer Simon Kinberg and Audrey Chon.
Travon Free (“Camping,” “The Daily Show”) penned the script for the project which is dubbed a romantic spy thriller and will be set in Africa.
The acquisition joins an ever growing slate of star-driven films at the company including the Will Smith-led “Emancipation” and Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon”.
Elba will next be seen in “Concrete Cowboys” debuting at the Toronto Film Festival next month and James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” next year in cinemas. He’ll next film the Netflix western “Harder They Fall”.
