Apple Acquiring Animated “Spellbound,” “Luck”

Apple is in talks to acquire two animated features from Skydance Productions, films which are currently set up at Paramount.

One is “Spellbound,” a film set in a world of magic where a young girl must break the spell that has split her kingdom in two.

That project is helmed by “Sherk” director Vicky Jenson from a script by Lauren Hynek, Elizabeth Martin and Linda Woolverton. Alan Menken is composing the score.

“Luck” follows a girl in a world of good and bad luck and is being directed by Peggy Holmes. Former Pixar chief John Lassetter currently oversees the animation division of Skydance.

Skydance co-finances Paramount’s slate but has begun shifting to making movies for streamers – in the process they’ve had two big hits for Netflix with “6 Underground”” and “The Old Guard”. They’re now in production a third with “The Adam Project”.
