“Apartment 7A” Is “Rosemary’s Baby”?

Earlier this month, filming wrapped on the psychological thriller “Apartment 7A” for the Paramount Players label.

What we knew is that the project was being helmed by acclaimed “Relic” director Natalie Erika James and starred rising actress Julia Garner alongside veterans like Dianne Wiest and Kevin McNally.

Now, sources for Bloody Disgusting say they have it on “good authority that Apartment 7A is actually a top-secret Rosemary’s Baby film”.

If true this would mark the third screen adaptation of Ira Levin’s 1967 novel following Polanski’s 1968 horror masterpiece and the poorly received 2014 NBC mini-series which starred Zoe Saldana, Patrick J. Adams and Jason Isaacs.

While that mini-series was a straight remake, it’s not clear if that’s the case here or something more akin to a spin-off ala the upcoming “Prey” to the “Predator” franchise. It could also be a spiritual sequel to the 1968 film.

On the film’s IMDb listing, actress Amy Leeson is credited as Rosemary Woodhouse (Mia Farrow’s character in the original) while McNally is credited as Roman Castavet – the neighbour who turned out to be the coven leader.

Paramount owns the rights to the property and “Apartment 7A” certainly has both Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes label and John Krasinski attached as producers. Krasinski was attached fifteen years ago to a potential “Rosemary’s Baby” remake that never happened, while Platinum Dunes has remade plenty of iconic horror classics in their time including “Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” “Friday the 13th” and “A Nightmare on Elm Street”.
