Less than a day since a report emerged claiming Leo Woodall is up for playing the younger version of Aragorn, another casting rumor for the Andy Serkis-directed “The Hunt for Gollum” has appeared.

Scooper DanielRPK is reporting that none other than “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” and “The Queen’s Gambit” star Anya Taylor-Joy is up for a role in the project.

No specifics of her potential role have been revealed, though previous reports indicate the movie boasts two major new female roles – one older, one younger.

As previously reported, the film will be set in the period between “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings” trilogies as Gandalf sends Aragorn on a quest to find Gollum before he can be captured by the forces of Mordor and tell them where the ring is.

The casting rumours come about two months ahead of the film’s shoot this coming May in New Zealand, with actors rushing to be locked in alongside returnees like Serkis, Ian McKellen and Elijah Wood.

The actress will shortly be doing press for her voice role as Princess Peach in “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” opening April 1st, and has already shot her part in Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Three” opening in December.

“The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum” is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on December 17th 2027.
