Anvari To Helm A Fourth “Cloverfield”

Paramount Pictures

“Under the Shadow” and “Wounds” director Babak Anvari has been set to helm the next installment in the hit “Cloverfield” horror film series.

This project, the fourth chapter in the series, is currently in development at Paramount Pictures and follows on from the Matt Reeves-directed 2008 original, the Dan Trachtenberg-directed 2016 entry “10 Cloverfield Lane”, and Julius Onah’s 2018 entry “The Cloverfield Paradox”.

The first two were widely well-regarded by critics and commercial successes. The third was thoroughly panned, but had a lot of viewership when Netflix announced during that year’s Superbowl that the film was set to be released immediately after the big game.

J.J. Abrams, Hannah Minghella and Jon Cohen are producing, while Bryan Burk, Matt Reeves and Drew Goddard will executive produce. Joe Barton, who penned 2017’s acclaimed “The Ritual,” is set to write the script.
