“Hamilton” alum and “In the Heights” star Anthony Ramos has entered final negotiations for the lead role in the next live-action “Transformers” film at Paramount Pictures.
Ramos will play a flawed and vulnerable hero who has made mistakes in his life and is eager to redeem himself with the help of Optimus Prime.
The female lead is now being cast with Kiki Layne (“The Old Guard”) and Dominique Fishback (“Judas and the Black Messiah”) among the actresses up for the part. Screen and chemistry tests will take place.
Steven Caple Jr. (“Creed II”) is directing the project from a script by Joby Harold. The new entry is reportedly expected to pick up the story threads established in “Bumblebee”.
This is separate from the Angel Manuel Soto-directed standalone film announced the other week, and the animated film from “Toy Story 4” director Josh Cooley.
