Anthony Carrigan Joins “Superman: Legacy”

FOX

“Barry” scene stealer Anthony Carrigan has joined the cast of James Gunn’s “Superman: Legacy” in the role of superhero Metamorpho according to THR.

Having already played a DC villain in the form of Mr. Zsasz on FOX’s “Gotham,” the actor now takes on a more heroic character who was an adventurer who has become a shifting mass of chemicals.

He joins a growing cast of actors, including David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific, and Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardener/Green Lantern.

DC Studios co-chief Gunn has also spoken about his excitement over the project today following the news of the hires. In a posting on Threads, he says:

“Superman: Legacy opens two years from today. It may seem far away to many of you, but it’s close to me! We have a lot to do between now and then. But I haven’t been more excited about a project in forever… and this cast, slowly coming together… holy cow.”

Asked about the inclusion of the new heroes, he says: “They fit the story I’m telling. Story always comes first… The primary story most definitely revolves around Superman and Lois”. He also confirmed that the actors he is casting for this movie will go on to play the roles in other DCU projects.

He also spoke about Fillion’s casting as a Green Lantern, saying: “Giving my old pal Nate a bowl cut might have been my primary reason for casting him” before adding Fillion will play him “in all parts of the DCU” including The Green Lanterns show.

“Superman: Legacy” is scheduled to be released on July 11th 2025.
