After grossing $861 million at the global box office, “Jurassic World Rebirth” overcame mixed reviews to deliver one of the biggest hits of the year.
Key to that success were director Gareth Edwards, who helped keep the film’s cost down, and its cast, like Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey and Scarlett Johansson, who all got out there and promoted the film hard.
Now, a new report from scooper Daniel Richtman indicates that “A new Jurassic World movie with [Johansson] as the lead again is already in the works.”
No further details were offered, though if true, it’s like Bailey and Ali would be invited back along with Edwards, but there’s no word on any of their potential involvement at this time.
The film served as something of a mini-reboot of the franchise, moving forward to a time when resurrected dinosaurs were dying out and only in small pockets of the Earth near the equator.
The film boasted a partly split narrative with one focus being on a mission to obtain DNA samples, the other on a family trapped on an island – the latter storyline being decidedly less well received than the former.
