Sony Pictures has set “Final Destination: Bloodlines” duo Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein to direct a “Venom” animated feature.
Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, who worked on the “Venom” films, will produce the project, which is still in the early development stages.
Former “Venom” film trilogy star Tom Hardy is said to be involved in some capacity, but it is unclear whether he would produce or even return to voice the character.
No writer is currently attached but a writer’s room is being opened to develop a script and/or pitches for the film.
The character was introduced in 1988 and quickly became a fan favorite. In recent years he starred in a trilogy of his own films with Hardy in the role, the last being “Venom: The Last Dance” in 2024.
As this is an animated feature however, it is likely years away from completion.
