HBO has unveiled the first teaser trailer the Spike Lee-directed concert film “David Byrne’s American Utopia” which is set to premiere on HBO Max on October 17th.
A filmed version of his sold-out and record-breaking Broadway show, the former Talking Heads frontman and his band of eleven musical artists from around the world perform hits from across Byrne’s career.
Byrne touches on various sociopolitical topics – police brutality, voter turnout, climate change, immigration – and challenges us to come together and grapple with these issues.
That’s not the only clip today though as Netflix has released a new video in tribute to its recently acquired “Cobra Kai” series with the existing first two seasons landing on August 28th.
While that clip revisits the first two seasons, it also offers the first footage from the third season which will arrive on the streamer sometime in 2021. That season will see Daniel LaRusso returning to Japan in order to continue to navigate through life without the mentorship of his Karate Kid sensei, Mr. Miyagi.
