The world’s largest exhibitor, AMC Theatres, has confirmed they are slashing ticket prices on the slowest moviegoing days of the week.
From tomorrow, AMC will offer 50% off movie tickets on Tuesdays in addition to the previously announced 50% off Wednesdays. This will only be for those 36 million people who are part of the AMC Stubs rewards program.
The new measure replaces AMC’s prior discount Tuesday deal that offered $5 tickets for Stubs members. AMC is also discounting its small popcorn and drink combination on those days.
Online ticketing fees and extra charges for premium large formats like IMAX still apply. Certain films and holidays may be excluded.
The news comes as AMC has been hit by bad PR of late, announcing the chain will show more advertisements before movies in addition to traditional trailers.
They join rivals like Regal and Landmark in upping their pre-show commercials and trailers to as high as 30 minutes.
