AMC has handed out a formal series order for the episodic anthology series “Tales of the Walking Dead”.
Six self-contained hourlong episodes have been ordered and will focus on new and established characters in the larger world of the series. This marks the third spin-off of “The Walking Dead” franchise following “Fear the Walking Dead” and the limited series “Walking Dead: World Beyond”.
An untitled Norman Reedus-Melissa McBride led spin-off from showrunner Angela Kang is also on the way but that won’t launch until 2023.
Channing Powell will serve as showrunner and work alongside franchise content chief Scott M. Gimple on the series which will go into production early next year for a Summer 2022 debut.
