AMC+ has reversed its decision from four months ago to renew the sci-fi series “Moonhaven” with the cancellation taking place this weekend.
It follows just days after AMC Networks announced sweeping cost-cutting measures in the wake of CEO Christina Spade stepping down. Those measures include losing 20% of its U.S. staff, and write-downs of up to $475 million.
The move is a suprise as AMC Networks had previously touted the series as a strong performer and its number one most-watched AMC+ exclusive series and second most-watched new series in the streamer’s history behind only “Dark Winds”.
Created by Peter Ocko, the story focused on a utopian colony on the Moon that may hold the keys to preserving life on Earth. Dominic Monaghan, Emma McDonald, Amara Karan, Ayelet Zurer, Joe Manganiello, Kadeem Hardison and Yazzmin Newell starred.
