Amc Plans Wide Laser Projector Install

AMC Entertainment is planning its first major upgrade since the transition to digital, announcing a deal with Cinionic to roll-out laser projectors to 3,500 of its U.S. auditoriums through 2026.

The new initiative is dubbed a “significant acceleration” of the commitment of the world’s largest exhibitor to enhance the on-screen presentation and for the overall cinemagoing experience.

Laser projectors offer improved picture contrast, maximum picture brightness, and more vivid color along with being more environmentally friendly and using far less energy.

Installation of the new projectors will start rolling out at AMC auditoriums later this year and fan across the country on a market-by-market basis with the whole job aiming to be done by 2026.

AMC already offers laser projection in its premium large format auditoriums such as Dolby Cinema at AMC, Prime at AMC and select Imax at AMC as well as in its recent new-build openings.

The exhibitor says the new equipment and associated auditorium enhancements require only a “minimal” upfront capital investment.
