AMC May Pick Up LA’s Grove, Americana Cinemas

AMC Theatres is reportedly nearing a deal to operate two high-profile Los Angeles-area mall cinemas – The Grove in West Hollywood and The Americana at Brand in Glendale.

Both locations were part of the now-defunct Pacific Theatres chain which was shut down permanently in April along with its sister chain ArcLight Cinemas.

In recent days, AMC CEO Adam Aron said he was interested in taking over the leases of some Pacific sites and shortly after the company’s website listed AMC The Grove 14 and AMC The Americana 18 as theaters which then abruptly disappeared.

AMC didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment regarding its plans for The Grove and Americana. The fate of Arclight Hollywood and the Cinerama Dome remains unclear and is a lot more complicated due to the issue of land ownership.
