He’s out as Superman and Geralt of Rivia, but demand is high for actor Henry Cavill and he won’t be short on projects – including a potential dream property of his.

Scooper Jeff Sneider broke the news on The Hot Mic with THR following that up and confirming that Amazon is in final talks (following months of negotiations) for the screen rights to the “Warhammer 40,000” franchise. Cavill is attached to star and executive produce what will be a TV series.

No writers or showrunners have yet been attached to this version, beyond Vertigo Entertainment also hopping onboard to produce. Warhammer 40,000 is the most popular miniature wargame in the world, particularly in the UK, and has spawned a large amount of spin-off media including board games and video games.

The story of the franchise unfolds in the distant future, where a stagnant human civilization is beset by hostile aliens and supernatural creatures. War, betrayal, tyranny, genocide and destruction are death are a way of life for trillions of individuals and dozens of races across millins of planets.

The models in the game are a mixture of humans, aliens, and supernatural monsters, wielding futuristic weaponry and supernatural powers. Races include the Orks, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Tyranids, Necrons and the Tau who all pose a considerable threat to the survival and continued dominance of mankind.

Cavill has long been a passionate fan of the vastly expansive Warhammer universe, along with several other actors such as beloved “Midnight Mass” and “The Haunting of Bly Manor” star Rahul Kohli with both actors making social media waves for their Warhammer miniature paint jobs.

Amusingly hot on the heels of word that Cavill won’t be returning to Superman yesterday, Kohli tweeted “Hey Henry, f— it, let’s make a Warhammer movie/limited series. Kind regards, Rahul.” Numerous others have responded to that tweet to volunteer including actor Asa Butterfield and “Sinister” scribe C. Robert Cargill.
