Amazon Prime Video has announced it has picked up the animated anthology series “Diabolical” for eight episodes.
The series is set in the same universe as Amazon’s hit superhero show “The Boys” and the news was announced as part of a video message featuring actor Karl Urban from “The Boys”.
Episodes will feature stories by Awkwafina, Garth Ennis, Eliot and Ilana Glazer, Simon Racioppa, Justin Roiland and Ben Bayouth, Andy Samberg and Aisha Tyler.
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg also serve as writers on the spin-off which will be released on the service next year with executive producer Eric Kripke saying they’re already almost finished production.
Rogen and Goldberg said in a statement: “Ever since we saw the animated film ‘The Animatrix,’ a series of short animated films set in the universe of ‘The Matrix,’ we’ve wanted to rip it off. Today that dream has come true.”
Sadly still no word on a premiere date for the third season of “The Boys” as yet beyond it arriving sometime next year.
