Amazon Plans Live-Action “Promised Neverland”

Amazon is reportedly developing a live-action English-language series adaptation of the popular manga series “The Promised Neverland”. Fox 21 Television Studios and Amazon Studios will produce.

Kaiu Shirai and Posuka Demizu’s manga followed a group of the smartest kids at a seemingly idyllic orphanage who uncover its dark truth when they break a rule to never leave the orphanage grounds. Once the truth is discovered, they begin to plan an escape to save all of the children.

Meghan Malloy is set to write the script for the series which will be directed and executive produced by Rodney Rothman, with Masi Oka (“Death Note”) executive producing along with Roy Lee and Miri Yoon.

Malloy and Rothman both worked together on “Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse,” while Oka is also developing adaptations of “Mega Man” and “Attack on Titan”.
