A limited series revival of Emmy-winning quirky legal drama “Ally McBeal” is in the early stages of development.
Former leading lady Calista Flockhart is being eyed to reprise her iconic role in the series which hailed from “Boston Legal” creator David E. Kelley.
Kelley is expected to be involved in the potential sequel series as an executive producer, but a female auteur is expected to serve as showrunner with Kelley himself suggesting the idea years ago.
Courtney Thorne-Smith, Greg Germann, Lisa Nicole Carson, Jane Krakowski, Peter MacNicol, Gil Bellows, Portia de Rossi and Lucy Liu co-starred while Robert Downey Jr. served as a major love interest for Flockhart in latter seasons.
No network/streamer is currently attached to the project, though Hulu is a likely candidate and is currently home to the show’s five-season run.
