In an appearance this week on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” talk show, “Community” and “GLOW” actress Alison Brie spoke about the recent rumors involving casting on Marvel Studios’ “She-Hulk” TV series for the Disney+ streaming service.
A few days ago a rumored casting call for the series went online and the casting sheet described the lead role of Jennifer Walters, aka She-Hulk, as an “Alison Brie-type”. This led to the natural social media reaction that Brie is the front-runner to land the title role.
Brie explained how she heard the discussion and what she thinks of the possibility:
“I woke up with a bunch of Instagram posts of side-by-side pictures of me and She-Hulk, which I just thought, ‘Cool.’ And then the quote about the ‘Alison Brie-type,’ which honestly I found very exciting because for years I auditioned for the ‘Anne Hathaway-type’ or the ‘Zooey Deschanel-type.’ I was very flattered to be my own type.”
When asked if she made phone calls to Marvel, she denied it: “No, I did not!… I find [the role]… interesting.” The new “She-Hulk” series isn’t expected to go online until 2021.
