Grammy Award-winning artist Alicia Keys is set to produce an untitled Netflix romantic comedy feature to be directed by Steven Tsuchida (“Younger,” “Dear White People”).
The story centers around an aspiring pop star, Erica (Christina Milian), who ends up as the entertainment at the wedding of her ex-fiance (Jay Pharaoh) after reluctantly taking a gig at a luxurious island resort while in the wake of a music career meltdown.
She tries to keep their past relationship a secret from his bride-to-be Beverly (Sinqua Walls), but Erica rediscovers her feelings for her ex, Jason, despite his brother Caleb’s attempts to keep them from falling back in love.
Stella Meghie, Dana Schmalenberg, and Rheeqrheeq Chainey co-write the film which Keys will produce with Maggia Malina and Jeremy Kipp Walker. Shooting will take place in Mauritius.
