Oscar-nominated actress Alfre Woodard (“See,” “Clemency,” “Luke Cage”) has joined the upcoming film adaptation of Stephen King’s 1975 novel “Salem’s Lot” at New Line.
The story sees author Ben Mears returning to his childhood home of Jerusalem’s Lot in search of inspiration for his next book, only to discover his hometown is being preyed upon by a bloodthirsty vampire.
Woodard play Dr. Cody, a gender-swapped version of Dr. Jimmy Cody from the book. Cody assists Ben (Lewis Pullman), Susan Norton (Makenzie Leigh) and Matt Burke (Bill Camp) in fighting the spread of vampires.
Spencer Treat Clark also stars as local gravedigger Mike Ryerson. Roy Lee, James Wan and Michael Clear will produce.
