Alexandra Daddario has scored the lead role in “Mayfair Witches,” AMC’s series adaptation of the late Anne Rice’s “The Lives of the Mayfair Witches” novel series.
Daddario (“The White Lotus,” “Why Women Kill,” “True Detective”) will star as Rowan, a brilliant doctor who grapples with her fate as the heir to a family of powerful witches.
The show was picked up for an eight-episode first season in December. Esta Spalding and Michelle Ashford serve as writers and executive producers with Spalding also serving as showrunner.
In a statement, it is said the series “will be a centrepiece of an expanding Anne Rice universe on AMC+ and AMC”. It joins a series adaptation of Rice’s “The Vampire Chronicles” novel series. Both shows are expected to debut later this year.
