Five-time Oscar-winning filmmaker Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (“Birdman,” “The Revenant,” “Babel”) has reportedly wrapped production on his new film in Mexico City.

Titled “Bardo (or False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths),” the comedy is dubbed a “chronicle of uncertainties” as a renowned journalist and documentary filmmaker returns to his native country facing his identity, familial relationships, the folly of his memories, as well as the past and new reality of his country.

Inarritu and Nicolas Giacobone co-wrote the film which marks a return of Inarritu to his native country a full two decades after his explosive breakout feature “Amores Perros”.

Famed Iranian cinematographer Darius Khondji (“Se7en,” “Panic Room”) serves as director of photography on the film which sees Daniel Gimenez Cacho and Griselda Siciliani leading the cast.
