Aldis Hodge Is Amazon’s Alex Cross

Warner Bros. Pictures

With his Showtime series “City on a Hill” officially canceled today after three seasons, one of its leading men is moving on.

Aldis Hodge has scored the title role in Amazon Prime Video’s long-gestating series based on James Patterson’s Alex Cross novels.

A series order has been handed out for the project centering on Cross (Hodge), a detective and forensic psychologist uniquely capable of digging into the minds of killers and victims in order to identify and catch them.

A doting father and family man, Cross is single-minded to the point of obsession when he hunts killers. He is desperate for love, but his wife’s murder has left him too damaged to receive it.

Morgan Freeman played the character in 1997’s “Kiss the Girls” and 2001’s “Along Came a Spider” whilst Tyler Perry took on the role in 2012’s “Alex Cross”. Patterson has penned 29 Cross novels to date.

Ben Watkins (“Hand of God”) will serve as showrunner on the Paramount Television Studios and Skydance Television production.

Hodge can currently be seen playing Hawkman in the “Black Adam” movie.
