“Reacher” leading man Alan Ritchson has spoken about the possibility of playing Batman in the DC Universe. Fans have been dream-casting him for the DC Universe’s take on Batman which has yet to be revealed.

The talk got enough attention that DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn revealed that he’s a “big Alan Ritchson fan”. Ritchson, who has played two DC heroes on the small screen before, recently spoke with Variety to share his reaction to those comments.

He confirmed that he had already talked about Batman with the DC Studios co-chief, but he doesn’t see it happening for him anytime soon. Rather, it sounds like he has his eye on another DC role:

“Well, it’s not rumor that James Gunn is a fan. He said it himself. And am I a fan of James Gunn? Absolutely. I don’t want to mislead people. Words have been exchanged about Batman. But I strongly don’t think that Batman is in my future. I do think there is something in my future with DC. And I would like that to remain true.”

Andy Muschietti (“The Flash,” “IT”) is directing “The Brave and the Bold” which is expected to center around Bruce Wayne and his son Damian Wayne. Whether we’ll get an introduction to DCU Batman before that is not clear.

Meanwhile, Matt Reeves’ “The Batman: Part II” starring Robert Pattinson is slated to begin shooting early next year.
