Famed British writer and comic book legend Alan Moore, creator of famed works such as “Watchmen” and “V for Vendetta,” has revealed he no longer accepts royalty checks from DC Comics for the various film and TV series adaptations of his works.

Speaking with The Telegraph, he was asked if the claims were true that he takes all of the money he makes from film and TV series and divides it among the writers and other creatives. He responded:

“I no longer wish it to even be shared with them. I don’t really feel, with the recent films, that they have stood by what I assumed were their original principles. So I asked for DC Comics to send all of the money from any future TV series or films to Black Lives Matter.”

Moore, who has been famously vocal at times about adaptations of his work he was not happy with, says he isn’t interested in money and lives a quiet life in Northampton.

He also has famously been critical of contemporary superhero movies, dubbing them a “blight” on cinema, along with criticism of adult’s continued love of superhero movies being “infantilization” and a potential “precursor to fascism”.

Moore adds in the new interview that appealed to him most about comics in the past is no more.
