Alan Cumming is set to lend his voice for a key cameo in Disney and Pixar’s upcoming “Toy Story 5”.
Speaking with LADbible, “The Traitors” host confirmed he will be voicing Woody and Jesse’s horse Bullseye in the project and calls it an ‘incredible honour’.
The toy horse has appeared in all the films to date, but has been a mute character. Cumming says he was “so happy and proud and in disbelief,” dubbing it an ‘incredible honour’ to join the franchise.
He adds it was “obviously a big decision” and the team thought long and hard about “what voice to give him”:
“So we went around the houses a bit before we settled on the one we’re using. But the circumstances of him talking — once you see the film — will make you understand why we had quite a broad church to choose from…. I would say don’t expect too much, as it is a cameo, but it is quite exciting as this character has never had a voice before.”
The character reportedly speaks during a “funny playtime sequence” set in Blaze’s imagination. It was also quick work for Cumming who did one session in a studio with the creators on Zoom to record his part, and didn’t meet any of the other actors.
He adds that “it’s going to give me great kudos with my friends’ kids to be in this one”. He joins fellow newcomers to the franchise like Conan O’Brien joins the crew as a potty-training toy named Smarty Pants as well as Greta Lee voicing an antagonistic tablet named Lilypad.
“Toy Story 5” opens in cinemas on June 19th.
