“Ahsoka” Gets Budget Cuts For Season 2

Lucasfilm

Filming on the second season of the “Star Wars” series “Ahsoka” wrapped in Los Angeles a little over a week ago, the shoot ending ahead of the show’s expected return on the Disney+ service next year.

Leading actress Rosario Dawn popped up at Comic-Con Scotland over the weekend and reports from her panel have now begun circulating.

According to those reports, via StarWarsNewsNet, Dawson says her last week of filming on the series had her shooting scenes alongside Anakin Skywalker actor Hayden Christensen.

Christensen had a significant supporting role in the first season and was confirmed as returning for the second season back when shooting began in April. What’s not clear is how large his role will be this time.

At the same panel, Dawson also reportedly confirmed that the show will have a reduction in overall budget compared to the first season which was estimated to have cost just over $100 million to produce eight episodes.

How the budget reduction was achieved is not clear, though reusing of sets from the first season could well have had an impact. The new season is expected to run for eight episodes.
