“Ahsoka” Featurette Explores Anakin’s Return

The official “Star Wars” YouTube channel has just released a new featurette for the “Ahsoka” series, this one going behind the scenes of Ahsoka and Anakin’s reunion.

The clip shows Rosario Dawson and Hayden Christensen, who’ve known each other since they were teenagers, working together on a green/grey screen as they film the ‘World Between Worlds’ sequence for the fifth episode of the series.

In the clip, Dawson spoke about Ahsoka seeing Anakin’s face again, years after her old master’s death in “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi”. She says: “It’s really, really powerful for Ahsoka, to see her guard come down. We know her as a stoic, super-powerful, on top of it, warrior, and all of a sudden, she’s Padawan again.”

The clip follows in the wake of an interesting pre-stirke interview that showrunner Dave Filoni did with The Wrap that was published late last week in which he talks about Dawson on set:

“At the end of the day, she has to be Ahsoka live onscreen right there in the moment. I think that she really grabbed the hold of that now; she’s comfortable in that skin. She respects the fans and their love of the character. That’s a lot of pressure on someone.

And to wield lightsabers not just with one but two hands — sometimes I look back and I think, ‘Oh my gosh. What I wrote and put her through, all the training, all the fights, was that even reasonable?’ But she did it.

And I’ve got to tell you, [Rosario] just from morning to night is the most positive, happy, uplifting person on set. I’m so proud that she’s the person that is playing this character. It’s significant to me, and we couldn’t have done better.”

The sixth episode of “Ahsoka” premieres Tuesday night on the Disney+ service.
