The American Film Institute (AFI) has announced its annual top ten TV shows and films of the year.
HBO Max took the most honors in the TV category with Apple TV+ and Netflix also faring well. In the film categories, big-name directors were the winners even if some of the films didn’t score as high as other past efforts.
Ten Best Films: CODA, Don’t Look Up, Dune, King Richard, Licorice Pizza, Nightmare Alley, The Power of the Dog, Tick Tick Boom!, The Tragedy of Macbeth, West Side Story
Ten Best Series: Hacks, Maid, Mare of Easttown, Reservation Dogs, Schmigadoon!, Succession, Ted Lasso, The Underground Railroad, WandaVision, The White Lotus
AFI’s Special Award winners this year were “Belfast,” “Squid Game” and “Summer of Soul”.
