Casey Affleck, Zooey Deschanel, Walton Goggins, Beau Bridges, Jack Dylan Grazer, Noah Jupe and Chris Messina have all joined the cast of Bill Pohlad’s new indie feature “Dreamin’ Wild”.
The true story tale follows musicians Donnie and Joe Emerson and the tumult that followed the success of their self-recorded pop-funk album of the same name.
Largely ignored at the time, critics reappraised it decades later and a now adult Donnie is forced to confront the ghosts from the past and grapple with the emotional toll his dreams have taken on the family who supported him.
Affleck and Jupe will portray Donnie at different ages, while Goggins and Grazer will do the same for Joe. Deschanel will play Donnie’s wife, Bridges his father, and Messina an Attic Records executive.
Filming began this month in Spokane, Washington. Pohlad is familiar with musician biopics, having done one with the well reviewed “Love & Mercy” about The Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson.
