Adam Shankman (“Hairspray,” “Step Up”) has been announced as director of the upcoming “Hocus Pocus” sequel for Disney+.
The follow-up to 1993’s cult hit starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy – the new take is penned by “Workaholics” writer and co-producer Jen D’Angelo.
The original cast members are not attached, but the studio is said to be hopeful that they will become involved in some capacity which allow the film to be a sequel rather than a reboot.
Lynn Harris will produce. Shankman is currently in pre-production on “Disenchanted,” the “Enchanted” sequel which is also in development.
