Former “Saved by the Bell” star Dustin Diamond has died. He was 44.
Diamond was best know for playing Samuel ‘Screech’ Powers on the series over four seasons along with reprising it in spin-offs. The actor reportedly passed away from a carcinoma (cancer) he was diagnosed with just three weeks ago.
Diamond’s agent, Roger Paul, said in a statement: “In that time, it managed to spread rapidly throughout his system; the only mercy it exhibited was its sharp and swift execution. Dustin did not suffer. He did not have to lie submerged in pain. For that, we are grateful.”
Post-Bell, Diamond was mostly known for reality TV stints and some controversies. He also wrote a tell-all that led to years of estrangement from many of his former castmates.
