Sony Pictures Animation have revealed the main villain of the upcoming “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” feature.
Jason Schwartzman lends his voice to the character known as The Spot, a being with interdimensional portals across his body. Each spot is hand-drawn by diffearent artists and designed to be like ‘living ink’, while the character’s look will change throughout the film as he adjusts to his powers.
A first-look photo was released by Marvel a few minutes ago and dubbed “Miles Morales’s most formidable foe yet”. This glimpse of the antagonist character was shown as part of the film’s presentation at the 2022 Annecy International Animated Film Festival which is currently underway.
It’s not clear how The Spot will fit into the larger story of the upcoming film which follows on from the Oscar-winning “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” and is followed by a third film “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” in March 2024.
“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” opens June 2nd 2023.
