Marisa Abela (“Industry”) is the latest to join Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” movie which stars the likes of Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera, Emma Mackey, Kate McKinnon, Simu Liu, Will Ferrell, Issa Rae, Ncuti Gatwa, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Alexandra Shipp and Emerald Fennell.
Specifics about Abela’s character have not been disclosed. Gerwig and Noah Baumbach wrote the which has been filming around California for weeks now with Robbie and Gosling spotted in various colorful outfits filming as Barbie and Ken.
Co-star Mackey spoke with Empire about the film recently and revealed that the production had fun with the premise as “right in the beginning, we had a sleepover for the Barbies, which would involve playing games with Scott [Evans] and Ncuti [Gatwa].” Said games included table tennis.
Tonally she says the film is “light and funny and silly and American and pink.” The new “Barbie” film is slated for release on July 21st 2023.
