ABC has ordered a pilot for a sequel to famed NBC legal drama series “L.A. Law” which ran for eight seasons and won 15 Emmys.
Former star Blair Underwood will reprise his role as attorney Jonathan Rollins while other cast members are also expected to return.
The new take sees the venerable law firm of McKenzie Brackman reinvent itself as a litigation firm specializing in the most high-profile, boundary-pushing and incendiary cases.
Rollins has become more conservative with age and clashes with millennial JJ Freeman to decide the best path forward for the firm.
“Legends of Tomorrow” duo Marc Guggenheim and Ubah Mohamed are executive producing the new version at 20th Television. Anthony Hemingway (“The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story”) will helm the pilot.
Steven Bochco and Terry Louise Fisher created the original which also starred the likes of Harry Hamlin, Susan Dey, Corbin Bernsen, Michele Greene, Jimmy Smits and Debi Mazar among others.
