Following in the wake of the massive $160.9 million so far in domestic box office for the recent sequel, Universal Pictures and Gold Circle are moving ahead on a third instalment in the “Pitch Perfect” franchise.
Negotiations have begun with Kay Cannon, who wrote the first two movies, to return for a third. It’s unknown if co-star and the second film’s director Elizabeth Banks will return to helm the next outing.
Deals for a third movie will be costly because options aren’t in place for the cast aside from second entry newcomer Hailee Steinfeld who is already locked in for a follow-up.
