Coming to the attention of many with his villain role in the “Avatar” movies, Stephen Lang has since gone on to various projects, from the short-lived “Terra Nova” series to 2016’s acclaimed home invasion thriller “Don’t Breathe”.
In the latter, three friends get trapped breaking into the house of a veteran of the Gulf War who was blinded by shrapnel. Lang was a pure villain in the first, but ended up being a little bit more heroic when he reprised the role for last year’s far less well-reviewed follow-up.
That film took in only one-third the box office of its predecessor but still made three times its budget. Recently speaking with ComingSoon, he pondered on his role before teasing that there is more to come with the character:
“I find with the sequels you’re talking about, Don’t Breathe. It’s not difficult for me to open the door into the Blind Man’s brain, you know? It’s not a place I want to spend a huge amount of time [laughs] unless that’s what I’m doing, and when I’m doing it, when I’m in the Blind Man, it’s a very interesting place to be. I’ve enjoyed if that’s the right word, but I guess it is, I enjoyed filming Don’t Breathe and Don’t Breathe 2 very, very much. Just as I plan to enjoy filming Don’t Breathe 3.”
No official third film has been announced as of yet. The second ended with a post-credits scene in which his character appears to be alive after the rather brutal events play out.
