John Krasinski’s critical and commercial smash hit original horror film “A Quiet Place” worked in many ways due to some very careful world building.
The film spent much of its time detailing how humans lived and functioned in this now dangerous world of silence populated by dangerous sound-detecting monsters, but barely touched upon anything about the origin of the monsters themselves.
The upcoming sequel however sounds like it will go into further detail as to said origins, with the new film’s co-star Brian Tyree Henry telling The Observer this week:
“We’ll see more of that family continuing to survive and finding out that they’re not the only ones. And I think that we’re also going to get a few answers to the origin of where and how this whole thing happened. I think that people want to know that. But I think you’re just going to see another side of it…more of humanity that survived this thing in this next story.”
Original film cast members Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe are returning as the Abbott family while Cillian Murphy is also joining the action. Further plot details however remain under wraps. “A Quiet Place 2” opens March 20th next year.
