A New “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” Synopsis

Lucasfilm

With “Ahsoka” having wrapped, we still have one last bit of “Star Wars” to arrive in the next few months – the “Skeleton Crew” series.

As previously reported, the series is set during the Mandoverse era and tonally said to be Amblin-esque and akin to “The Goonies” or “Stand By Me”. We also know it’s about some kids who become lost in the “Star Wars” universe.

Comparisons have been made to the animated “Star Trek: Prodigy” in the past which involved a group of young prisoners who stumble upon a lost experimental Starfleet ship.

Now a new official synopsis for “Skeleton Crew” has been found in a copyright filing and published via Mando3Updates with the details seemingly reinforcing that notion:

“In the first episode of ‘Skeleton Crew’ we are introduced to four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet and get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home, meeting unlikely allies and enemies, will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.”

Jon Watts directed the pilot episode with the cast including Jude Law, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Robert Timothy Smith, Ravi Cavot-Conyers, Kyrianna Kratter.

However, the big question is whether the series will crossover with the other Mandoverse shows and if so, how will it impact the overall saga leading up to Dave Filoni’s team-up movie?

All we know is producer Jon Favreau already indicated earlier this year that some of the characters and locations from “Skeleton Crew” could show up in the fourth season of “The Mandalorian” which isn’t expected until late 2024/2025.

“Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” is expected to premiere on Disney+ either around year’s end or early next year.
