Filmmaker Greg Mottola has shared a photo confirming the reboot of the “Fletch” comedy franchise, this time with Jon Hamm as reporter Maurice Fletcher, will begin shooting at the end of June.
Titled “Confess, Fletch’ and based on the second of author Gregory Macdonald’s eleven novels, the film boasts a tone dubbed “film noir with comedic elements”.
In this one, Fletch finds himself in the middle of multiple murders – one of which pins him as a prime suspect. He’s also tasked with finding his fiancee’s stolen art collection, the only inheritance she has acquired after her father goes missing.
Zev Borow and Mottola penned the script for the film which comes after various failed attempts at the property in recent years. Those versions had the likes of Jason Lee and Jason Sudeikis attached to the role.
