A New “Ali G” Movie Is In The Works?

Universal Pictures

About a month ago, scooper Jeff Sneider revealed on The Hot Mic that English comedian Sacha Baron Cohen could be returning as his early character creation Ali G for a new film centered on the character.

Today the report picked up steam when scooper Daniel Richtman (via World of Reel) announced Cohen is lining up a return to the character who got his own film back in 2002 with “Ali G Indahouse”.

Allegedly Cohen revived the character recently on-stage in Australia and enjoyed the experience so much he’s enthusiastic to return to the role.

The project has reportedly been kept under wraps, with Cohen rumored to be working on it discreetly, pre-strike, so as to not attract too much attention.

How a film would approach the character this time around isn’t clear. Ali G was famous for his interviews, a format the 2002 film left behind in favor of a more traditional comedy narrative.

Cohen later revived a similar interview format, albeit with different characters, for his “Borat” and “Bruno” films. If the report turns out to be true, we may hear more from the West Staines Massiv leader in the near future.
